1915 Berlin, Germany  Russian medical student, 17 years of age, Sergey Kobalenko  starts his Medical career in 

Germany, six years later, he would return to his small rural village in Russia to start practicing medicine in a local hospital.

Chapter 2 Kobalenko is now 44 years old, he is married and has a son 17 years old, and a daughter, 15 years old. Russian Army troops knock at Kobalenko's door, by force, they draft him into the Russian army alleging shortage of doctors.

Chapter 3 Kobalenko is wounded in combat, German troops take him prisoner, he spends 6 months in a german hospital, he meets Captain Ingrid Von Braun, a german doctor who attends his wounded legs, they fall in love.
