Arizona 1848  The old, battered  wagon twisted its way through the infamous hill separating it from the vast, lush, green prairie dormantly awaiting it down below. The six black horses – as black and shiny as polished onyx – were nervously puffing and hissing  imagining and anticipating the tormenting, horrific scenes about to engulf the gold miners and US Army platoon stubbornly headed to the  golden, hammered  prairies of California. They were  in search of hallucinating, indecent gold !! 

Suddenly, like deranged rails from hell, whistling flaming arrows traversed the hot, asphyxiating air of the inclement desert land !! . If the arrows scared the miners, they had no impact on Captain  Edward Flint, a seasoned veteran of combat with Indians; he had expected the unwelcome - rifles and horses hungry - putrid  Apaches to attack at any time!!
